  1. Kia ora Jammie-lee!

It’s Matua Peter from the Summer Learning Journey here. I really enjoyed seeing the artwork you shared today!

Your drawing is fantastic. I especially like:

The Detail: You have captured the shape of the spider perfectly, and the shading on its body makes it look almost 3D!

The Composition: Putting the web in the top corner was a great idea—it makes the whole page look like a scene from nature.

Since you are learning about spiders, here is a cool fact for you: Did you know that most spiders have eight eyes? Even though they have so many, most spiders are actually near-sighted and rely more on vibrations in their webs to feel when a snack has arrived! What other cools facts do you know about spiders?

If you enjoyed this drawing, I think you would love to try the Step it up activity for Art in the Web. In that activity, you get to build a 3D spider and web using things like paper cups and confetti. It’s a great way to take your art to the next level!

Keep up the wonderful work with your Summer Learning!
